International School has two
streams, a Japanese Section and an English International Section, open
to all students regardless of their race, religion or national origin.

OUR
MISSION STATEMENT
is that of the
International Baccalaureate
Organization as we “aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring
young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world
through intercultural understanding and respect.” We strive to
achieve this within the special and unique school culture and
environment we have here at J.I.S.

OUR FACILITIES
supported with a land grant from the
Hong Kong Government,
the construction of J.I.S. was completed in the spring of 1997. As a
Purpose-Built School, we are proud to offer the most modern facilities
available. Our regular classrooms are spacious and equipped with the
latest materials to support a student centered approach to learning.

OUR APPROACH TO TEACHING
AND LEARNING
Our Curriculum
is the Primary Years Programme of the IB (International
Baccalaureate). This dynamic curriculum offers us the scope to
fulfill our ideals of internationalism whilst offering a
progressive, quality curriculum. PYP is based upon Inquiry learning
and allows students to explore, research and make commitments
to action based outcomes. As a school we have a shared vision of the
IB 'Leaner profile' which we work to achieve.
An extensive
Extra-Curricular and Enrichment Program is open to all our students.
We offer a variety of activities such as sports, music, dance,
computers, swimming classes and much more. |

OUR
TEACHING STAFF
All teachers at J.I.S. are experienced educators with recognized
Teaching Certificates and University Degrees in Education from
around the world. Our
small class sizes enable the staff to use a child-centered,
individualized approach to teaching. Using our staff as role models we
are able to show the true value of inquiry learning. The staff are
keen to further develop themselves as well as the school and its
curriculum.
